OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - It's that time again to prepare shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child. The deadline is November 15 (I think). If you have never done this before this is how it works: take a shoebox and wrap the box and lid separately in Christmas wrap.  The breakdown is for ages 2-4 years, 5-9 years and 10- 14 years.  I will get labels that have this breakdown that will need to be affixed to the box and it also gives the breakdown if it is for a girl or boy.  (If you would just like to donate items for the boxes this would be greatly appreciated.  You can drop off loose items in the church office on Sunday mornings or anytime during the week.) Then you fill it with goodies (much of this can be found at the Dollar
Store), here are some suggestions: Toys:  Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch-A-Sketch, Slinky, etc. School Supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc. Hygiene Items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.
Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy) mints, gum,
t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches,
flashlights (with extra batteries). To help with postage we ask that you include a check made out to Samaritans Purse for $7.00.  Also if you would like to include a picture of yourself, family or group, this helps make the connection for the receiver of the gift.

IMPORTANT - Unity Bridge Road Survey

Hi Everyone!

I have been hearing so much enthusiasm for our Bridge Road project
and all sort of folks are coming forward with offers to help!
One member has pledged a gift of $2000, another $750, another free rubbish removal service,
another, free legal help, and another an $8,000 interest free loan!

I am wanting to gather together all the wonderful forms of prosperity
that are coming our way regarding the Bridge Road property.

I have also been hearing some concerns and hesitations. These are important,
and need a place to be heard as well. I am hoping the survey I have created will
allow room for both joys and concerns.

Please take a moment to consider the questions using the link below.
Your responses will be given anonymously.

The results will be available to everyone so we can get a sense of what everyone
is thinking and feeling!

Thanks!

Sky

Friday - Open Stage
It's time for our Coffee House and Open Stage at Unity of Kanawha Valley.  On Friday, November 13th at 7:30pm, the entertainment begins. Hosted by Ron Sowell.

Saturday -  Ron Sowell in Concert
FYI - next Saturday Nov 14th at 7:30 I will be featured in a concert
in St Albans at the Alban Theater as part of the Colesmouth Concert
Series. The Alban is a beautiful old theatre in downtown St Albans
that has recently been restored and is a wonderful setting for
acoustic music. I will be joined by my dear friend and songwriting
partner Jon Wikstrom who has co-authored many of my trade mark songs.
Jon will perform an opening set of his own material along with local
saxaphone legend Doug Payne of Bob Thompson Band fame. They will both
sit in with me on my set. I'm really looking forward to collaborating
with these two "wild and crazy" guys.  Admission is $10 at the door

Today's Daily Word - Wednesday, October 28, 2009
Contribution
I am love in action, contributing to the well-being of others.
God's love expresses through me to bless others. I perceive the people with whom I interact as the children of God they truly are. I look for opportunities to be of help, to appreciate and to make a positive contribution.
I find many opportunities to give from my heart. I extend a wave and a warm smile to a neighbor, call or e-mail a friend or relative, or give time and attention to someone in need.
I look beyond the outer persona of those who seem unfriendly or impolite and behold their true essence. For all those I meet or think of today, I say a silent blessing: I behold the Christ in you. I visualize you whole, happy, prosperous and peaceful.
"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God."--1 John 4:7
