prayer request
I would like to request that you continue to keep Ric and Jeanne K Cochran in your thoughts and prayers. I ran into Ric and his son at Kohl's this evening. What a terrific couple of guys!
Ric said that Jeanne continues to have a wonderful positive attitude as always (her blog is wonderful). Jeanne will start chemo soon. What I didn't know is that Ric is going to be starting chemo soon also. The meds for his MS are not working. His doctors are going to try to use chemo to kill off part of the MS area. He and Jeanne will be receiving chemo in the same facility but they have worked it out so they will not receive on the same days. What a duo! They are amazing. Such an inspiration.
Thank you all so much,
Pam

Unity Sundays at 11
We will be having our usual Sunday celebrations at Unity at 11am this Sunday and next.
I expect these will be somewhat quieter and informal services (if that is even possible!). You are very welcome to join in, please remember, you are loved wherever you are!
Thank you for your best wishes and intentions in the Christmas weekend, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Wayshower, and the pressence of the Christ within each of us.
And please remember, You are a Blessing!

Good morning Pam,I wondered if you had Jeanne K. Cochran's address? I would like to send her a card. Also, Nate broke both bones in his wrist (ulna & radius) last night playing indoor soccer. Keep him in your prayers if you would. We are seeing the orthopedic Dr. at 11:00. We are hoping they won't have to do surgery. Jon was with him when it happened and he said the arm looked like an "S" when he got to him. He splinted the wrist and lower arm with a small kids ball bat they happened to have and by the time they x-rayed it in the ER the bones looked well aligned. We are hoping it looks as good to Dr. Molina today. Talk to you soon. Thanks, LisaHello everyone,
Several people has asked for a prayer request for Jeanne K. Cochran, Ric, and their families. Jeanne's breast cancer has returned. She has underwent two surgeries in the last two week. She will be starting chemo again soon. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so much,
Pam

Let Your Light Shine!

Wishing you a season full of light, love, and joy!
In this holiday season we have experienced a surprising number of new calls for our services, especially from those experiencing grief, loss, as well as job and financial stress.
You support helps us see those who have few resources and high deductibles.
Every gift matters and makes a real difference in someone's life.
Thank you for your help.

That is wonderful and very kind. Because of Ric's MS, we know that this time around, we will need to accept help that is offered. So thank you! Food is actually the thing that helps us most. Ric used to love to cook, but no longer is able to stand for a very long time, and my right arm will be somewhat compromised for a while, so food would be welcome. It sure doesn't have to be fancy. Some tuna salad or something for sandwiches, a pizza, or anything easy is wonderful.
Also, There was a job I never got around to finishing that would be nice to have wrapped up before the first snowfall, and that would be raking leaves. I got most of it finished, but there are still some in the front yard, in the corner of the driveway, and on the back deck. (We started last year, letting the side yard become just like the woods, and want to leave the leaves on the ground in that space.). It's not a big job, but one I'll be unable to finish.
It's really nice of so many to want to help us, especially since we haven't been coming to church... But that's the kind of people you are... Gracious and loving. Thank you so much for your kind offer. My cell phone is 304.541.8984, and Rics is 304.546.7608. Blessings and love to you!

This delicate, lovely, provocative cycle of carols was composed in 1942 as Britten was crossing the Atlantic ocean (which at the time was full of lurking German U-boats) from the US back to his home in the UK. The text is Middle English, but the music is timeless! There will also be a flute trio interlude, and songs about the snow, the cold, roses, and angels, angels, everywhere! Bob Webb and I are looking forward to our concert on Sunday! We'll be doing a selection of new songs from our new CD "Light the Winter's Dark" plus some favorites from our standard tune bag. We will have new CDs at the concert, as well as "Seeing Things" and others. It's a perfect time to think about holiday gifts...Sunday, Nov. 20 at 3:00 pmUnity of Kanawha Valley - Sanctuary$10 suggested donation"Light the Winter's Dark" is not your typical Christmas CD. There are 16 songs that take us from the advent of winter through the Solstice and holidays, and on to the other side where sunny days return. There are songs I've written with a winter theme, and songs by other writers including beautiful winter solstice songs and a few Appalachian holiday carols... and a few surprises along the way. We've also selected some Appalachian fiddle tunes that fit the season. The overall theme of the CD is to honor the Light that is within us all. Many traditions are represented among the songs... it's very inclusive music! Local musicians on the CD include Ron Sowell, John Lilly, Julie Adams, Mark Davis and Deron Sodaro. We'll be performing Sunday, just us two, with our guitars, cello, mandolin and mountain dulcimers. This is our only concert before I head off to Oregon to stay till spring, and we begin the real move for both of us.Hope you can join us!Thanks,Heidi

windows for the manse building behind Unity
Thanks to the hard work, generosity, and dedication of our wonderful members, the main building of the Unity church is in good shape to face the coming cold winter months. The manse, however, has not been a focus of our fund raising efforts. Last winter, the heating bills for the manse alone were in the upper $500-$600 range for several months, making it difficult if not impossible for the tenant to pay. The house suffers a substantial heat loss due to the cold wind blowing in the windows. We have begun a project to replace the windows of the manse, with several members coming forward to sponsor a window, and we have collected enough so far by word of mouth to put in seven new windows. It occurred to us that many of you were not aware of this effort and we would like to make everyone aware of the opportunity to be involved in this wonderful project.
Three bids on replacement windows were obtained. UKV went with Window World since they were the most inexpensive. The windows cost $265 per window with the large windows (over four panes across) counting as two windows. Several people have donated a window or a portion of a window. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Pam

Today is a BIG day for me! I am asking for a big and happy prayer request. My granddaughter, Bayleigh Hall Goff's water broke this morning (on her mother Julie's 40th birthday no less!) and my grandson, Brantley Joseph Goff is expected to make his grand entrance today!
I am asking that her delivery goes smoothly and that Brantley and Bayleigh will be healthy and whole at the end of the process. Joey, Brantley's father, is a severe diabetic so we are all hoping the baby dodges that bullet. All prayers are greatly appreciated.

Our service last year was very special for many people.
Please bring an item (a photo, a flower, a special memento) that reminds you of that special person who meant a lot to you in your life.
There will be a table set up to hold these special items.
And, as we did last year, there will be time in the service if anyone wants to say a few words in remembrance of their loved one.

Prayer needed for the Viars family. "Michael and Tara Viars are missionaries to Pakistan along with their 6 children. They recently relocated to northern India due to political climate in Pakistan. Yesterday, their 8-yr-old son Windle, fell while playing, resulting in abdominal pain and profuse blood in his urine. After a visit to ER, a mass was found on his kidney and they are making plans to return to U.S. asap. Please pray for this family, for Windle's healing, for their peace of mind, for funds to get them all home, for God's perfect provision in their time of need."
Thanks,
