Join us at Unity of Kanawha Valley for an evening of fun, fellowship, and fantastic music.

A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 - 7 pm, on April 3rd immediately followed by a concert featuring some of Charleston's best musicians.

Performers include Mountain Stage Music Director Ron Sowell, Jack Kennedy, Ryan Kennedy, Heidi Muller, Bob Webb, Deron Sodero, John Lilly, and Nedy Aravelo.

Admission:
$25 for both the dinner & concert or
$12 for dinner only
$15 for concert only (7 pm)

All proceeds go toward the new roof on the Unity of Kanawha Valley's building.

Unity Appreciates!

Thank you to all the Open Mic workers and to Ron Sowell for the wonderful Mardi Gras decorations and theme.  Thank you to Phyllis for Ron's funky hat, the necklaces, and all the decorations.  We had several first-timers in attendance that said that they would definitely be back!

Thanks to Ron and Jim Selbe for moving the very heavy keyboard back to the sanctuary late Friday night after all the Open Mic festivities.

The downstairs organ has been donated to God's Creation Ministries (the church that rents Blaine Blvd.).  The minister's brother-in-law came with his pick-up truck.  Much appreciation to him, Blue, and Sky for helping get the organ into his truck!  Thanks also to Ron and Jim for moving the organ to the center of the basement floor for easier access.

The meditation room is almost done with the exception of a 2nd coat of paint on the closet and painting the closet shelves.  Thank you to Jim, Linda Austin, and Pam.

So very thankful for Jim Selbe's shoveling of the parking lot.  He put in many hours and has discovered a nice large drain that hopefully will drain all the water off the driveway and parking lot.

For friends in my apartment building! I had not returned from the Cleveland Clinic on Friday afternoon/evening as expected, staying over due to an 8" snowfall in the "Forest City." My neighbors became so concerned that they finally called me (at midnight!) and woke me up! Such is the price of friendship, and I am grateful!    Harry Mills

For Alia Accad and other women with heartfelt theatrical skills for The Vagina Monologues which provided laughter, tears and deeper understanding.

For all the parents and their delightful wonderful children who grace our services with energy, hope and joy.  Miss the twins and their independent spirits.

For Sky with his ability to go with the flow and spontaneously live in the moment.

For Ron and his perceptive use of ""Love Can Build a Bridge"" which resulted in his singing it and the chorus making such an impact on Join Me on the Bridge Day March 8th.

For all the Unity members,their friends, mates and children that participated in carrying banners, waving flags, singing, chanting, wearing colorful clothing and Being on the Bridge!  For those who could not attend, but were there in spirit.

For Pam who was with us in spirit and manifesting her love for a friend who had made the choice to leave an abusive relationship.

Thanks Mindy for organizing the Sunday School teachers each month!   We are happy to have our little ones provided for so well!    

Thank you Paul Nadas for bringing humor to our Sunday mornings!   

With Gratitude for Sky working with our Teens!   His presence in the children's lives is very meaningful!    

Thanks Peggy Gunter for running the show each Sunday morning.  The consistency of your smile and kindness make us all feel welcome!    

For Pam Hippler's extensive efforts to obtain a transporter from the bridge and up the hill.

For Barrie Kaufman the friend of many Unity members and attendees who was inspired to develop Join Me On The Bridge Day!

For the Presence of Harry Mills.  Already a poster boy/guy for Cleveland Clinic's heart surgery, now or soon to be on his way to becoming their poster person for successful back surgery!

For all creatures great and small that bless the Earth with their life forms of energy!
 
For Grace and Love that has blessed Susie Davis with feet that can wear shoes again.  Our Stetson Gal was made for walking!

Charleston's Spring NVC Training Weekend - On Gratitude

KPCC will be hosting a weekend training in Non Violent Communications, featuring Internationally Certified NVC Trainer, Jeff Brown. Jeff will be with us March 25 & 26 for the day and a half long workshop. Space is limited to 50 participants.

Cost is $85 for both days (Fri, Nov 12, 6:30pm - 9:30pm and Sat Nov 13, 9:00am - 5:00pm, lunch is included). We will be meeting at the UU Congregation

Thank you to everyone who stayed after church on Sunday and helped move the pews the first time and moved all the equipment out of the sanctuary.  The carpet looks beautiful!

The lesson last week ignited a number of stories of our member's experiences of the numinous. What is this that we are touching or is touching us. It goes by many name, and seems to be a universal in all spiritual traditions. The Fillmore's called it "The Ether."
This idea has ancient resonance: from Plato to Einstein.

Join Unity member Pat Clark for a peace-filled guided meditation on Sundays at 9:30 at the Folded Leaf. Members who were not sure they could do an hour say the time just flew by! A great way to start the day!

And we continue to be amazed at how the Universe has brought together so many talented and generous people, with exactly the expertise that we needed, just at the right time. Demonstrations Abound!!!

And Remember: You are a Child of God!  You are a Blessing!

Hi Sky,
The carpet guys are just finishing up on the "flat" part of the sanctuary.  In the morning they'll start laying the plywood on the stage. 
 
Nate helped get the pews moved up to the stage.  Nate is working out of town today and not coming back this evening.  We need to move them back to the "flat" part this evening.  I can help but they're a little too heavy for me.  Who do you suggest I call to get them moved this afternoon or evening?  The carpet guys will be finished by 3:00 or a little before.

So many expectations, so many chances for disappointment, yet our survey results once again show how many responders had good to wonderful Valentine experiences.

70% of responders were in committed relationships
52% celebrated with a card, 42% with dinner
68% rated their Valentine''s Day as Positive

Memorial/ Meditation Garden

Hello everyone,
 
Doug Harper, one of our favorite Open Mic people, is also a landscaper.  He stopped by UKV last Saturday to meet and help us with envisioning a Memorial/Meditation Garden.  Doug is going to draw up some sketches for UKV.  He would love everyone's input.  What do you envision when you think of a Memorial Garden?

movie night tonight & moving equipment after church this Sunday

Hello everyone,
 
Just a reminder that movie night is this evening at 6pm.  The movie this evening is Beautiful Dreamer.  Food starts at 6pm and the movie starts at 6:30pm.
 
We would appreciate anyone that can help move equipment and pews this Sunday after church.  Our new carpet for the sanctuary is being installed.  Yay!!!
 
A Happy Anniversary to everyone!  A year ago from this Sunday was our first church service at Myrtle Road.  Look how much we have flourish this year!  A huge thank you to everyone.  It is because of all your hard work and dedication that we have gotten so much accomplished!

Spiritual Cinema Circle - Movie this Friday, Mar 4, 2011
Beautiful Dreamer - Dinner at 6, Movie at 6:30

Joe and Claire were high school sweethearts, newly married when World War II called Joe to duty.  When Joe's plane goes down, Claire is expected to grieve and move on, but she can't.  As news surfaces that Joe might be alive after all, Claire is faced with a challenge that only love can conquer.   Movie is 90 minutes long.  Come..bring some food to share, enjoy wonderful con versation and fellowship..and have a Friday date night!!!  KJ

Please join us on the Southside Bridge, Tuesday, March 8th, 12:00 noon, the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day.  This project is supporting women victims of war.  Women, men and children will be standing on bridges worldwide in support of this effort.
