Sky is looking for a volunteer to do some sewing on backdrop curtains.  The only requirement is for someone to know how to sew a straight line.  This is a one-time only project.

Events at Unity - this week

Hello everyone,

 

We have several activities going on at Unity this week:

 

Friday Evening - Open Mic 4 Kids at 6:30 with performers signing up at 6pm.  This month's event is hosted by Sky and the pizza is provided by Lola's! 

 

Sunday Morning Church Service at 11am - Sky's lesson for this week is "How To Trust the Process".  It sounds wonderful!  Of course, there is always wonderful music with Jack and Ryan Kennedy and this week Mark Davis is back as guest musician. Mark is stepping in for Ron while Ron is on vacation.

 

 

 

Also big news - Bridge Road is paved and open!!!  Yay!!  We can now all get to Unity without all the detours.

Many thanks for all who made Blue's "Bad to the Bone" Karaoke night on Friday a rousing success again!

So grateful to everyone who attended the fundraiser meeting on Sunday.

Thank you to everyone that helped out with Open Mic prep and clean-up.  We couldn't do it without you!!

detours to Unity of Kanawha Valley - lower Bridge Road closed due to repairs

Hello everyone,

 

Lower Bridge Road is closed due to slips in the rock walls from South Side Bridge to Myrtle Road.  The detours are as follows:

 

1. South Side Bridge ramp or cross the bridge from downtown.

Turn left onto Londen Heights Road

Follow orange detour signs

Turn left onto Short Road

Turn left onto Abbey Circle

Abbey connects with Bridge Road about 2 or 3 blocks from Lola's Pizza

Proceed to Bridge Road Bistro

There will be signs for Road Closed but local traffic is allowed.

Drive from Bridge Road Bistro to Myrtle Road

 

 

2. Take I-64 Oakwood Exit and turn right. 

Take next left onto Oakwood Road

Go past Overbrook Elementary

Turn left at 3 way stop near GW High School

Go past Elizabeth Memorial Church

Turn left at the Y

Follow Bridge Road to Bridge Road Bistro

Ignore Road Closed Signs and follow local traffic sign to left lane.

Drive from Bridge Road Bistro to Myrtle Road

 

 

I have taken both routes.  I live in Spring Hill area of South Charleston.  For me, Route #1 is 1.5 miles shorter.

 

Enjoy the ride and view (it's a beautiful drive).

events at Unity - this weekend

Hello everyone,

 

We are some fun and exciting events at Unity of Kanawha Valley this weekend.

 

 

Friday evening - Karaoke Night at 7pm.  We truly have a lot of fun singing, dancing, etc with our families and friends.  Please bring a dish to share.  We always seem to eat when we gather together.  Everyone is welcome!

 

Sunday morning at 9am - Board of Trusteees meeting.

 

Sunday morning at 11 am - Sky is back from his vacation in Costa Rica.  His topic this Sunday will be "Inhabiting Your Life".

Just a reminder of some upcoming events at Unity this weekend:

 

 

:This Friday - Ron Sowell's Open Mic and Coffee House at 7:30pm.  Performers sign up at 7pm.  Admission is $5.00.  Admission for performers, seniors, and children is $2.00.  It's always a wonderful, relaxing evening of entertainment. 

 

Sunday Service at 11am - Sky's back from his vacation to see family in Costa Rica!! 

 

Sunday after church service - There will be a fundraising committee meeting in the basement activities room immediately following the church service.  Everyone is welcome!  UKV is always looking for volunteers.  Many hands make for lighter work.
