Unity Lesson this Sunday

"In the beginning ..."

Most of us are comfortable with the idea of a creator God and the stories about God creating the heavens and the Earth were created. My mind was stretched this week when i read what Unity writers say about this. I am still trying to recover.

So who made the physical Earth? Well, many Unity writers say it wasn't God! Join us Sunday at 11 as I try to get my head wrapped around this one.

The metaphysical interpretation of Genesis might just blow your mind too!

Discussion after the Lesson!

Sky

RE: Path to the Cure - Race in Huntington

Pam...thank you so much for sending this out!

I'm one of the committee members of the PATH to the Cure 5k Walk/Run being held in Huntington on Oct 1, 2011. My girlfriends and I raised $24,000 over two years to participate in the 60 mile/3 day walk in Washington, DC to benefit breast cancer research.  We saw how much of this money was raised locally from friends and family.  We decided that it would be even more helpful to women in our community to raise the money and keep it here at home to benefit our friends and family here in WV.  This is how PATH to the Cure was born.

I thought I'd try to make it easy for you to find information that might be of interest to you instead of you having to look around for it.  I know I like to save a bit of time when it comes to gathering info on the web.  :-)

Below are a few suggestions that would be helpful to build interest for our event and a few links to info that you might find relevant.

I hope you'll seriously consider creating/joining a team and walking/running for this great cause.  The atmosphere will be festive, happy, very PINK and will not be your run-of-the-mill walk/run.  We hope you'll join us!

Oh...and we're doing a photo shoot and possibly a commercial on Thurs. Aug 25 in Huntington.  We're looking for people to participate whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.  The details are attached.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Who are YOU walking for?

Blessings,
~Alecia~

Lesson this Sunday: Sky on "Turning Things Over"
Music this Sunday: Mark Davis, Ryan Kennedy, Jack Kennedy

August 21, 2011

For Gerie Ann Selbe for always being so kind, thoughtful and loving.  She does so many wonderful things for our church and Unity community.

For Mindy Allenger for being such a wonderful teacher and role model for kids and parents!
Even with her very busy home, work, and study schedules - she still makes time to be a generous volunteer at Unity.  Thank you, Mindy!

Thanks to Paul Nadas for stepping up and helping with the Children's Sunday School on a week that we had 19 children in the classes.   Way to go!

Thank you to Angela Vance for volunteering to help with the children's Sunday School when she saw the need!

Great team in the Sunday School class with Nate Epling, Paul Nadas and Nathaniel Beck.    With the little children's class, the 'teaching team' led a 'Can Do' lesson by tracing the children' hands and having each child describe the things that they 'Can Do.'    An empowering lesson for children to begin to realize the potential of their bodies and minds and that all things are possible.   Way to go 'fellas!'

And many many thanks for Aila Accad who offered her Destress your Spirit workshop to over 15 appreciative, and donated the proceeds of over $500 to Unity prosperity. Thank you Aila!

Total Prosperity Circle Projects have generated almost $800 in its first month. Thank you all!

The following email is from Wes Davis about Unity's ebay fundraiser.

Thank you,

Hi folks, the e bay for UKV's prosperity is off and running.  Donations are coming in and items are beginning to sell.   However I have a need for some standing bookshelves, maybe three, they do not have to match and do not have to be anything fancy.  I just need more shelving to organize the additional e bay stuff for Unity.  If anyone has any they would like to sell, let me know.  Also if you have any kind of packing tape, or bubble wrap, ie: shipping supplies laying around you want to get rid of, I can always use them.  Thanks, my # is 304-548-5351.

Cinema Night this Friday

Hello everyone,

The following email is from Kathy Johnson.

This Friday, I will be showing a film about magic for Cinema Night.  The name of the movie is "Make Believe".  It's a "...feel-good feature documentary of six teenage magicians from around the world who vie for the title Teen World Champion, providing an engaging glimpse into each teen's world and transformation from quirky teen to master of illusion."  When I  previewed the film I didnt' know what to expect.  However, I soon engaged with all six lives and the incredible amount of work it took for each of them to expertly hone their skills.  Excellence is the word here... and they have some to know how their desire to believe creates worlds and influences others who entertain the notion of believing the impossible.  A MUST SEE for anyone who wishes to be entertained by mystery and story both.

91 minutes.  Come!!  Bring a dish to share with everyone.  Food sharing begins at 6pm with movie starting around 6:30pm.  It will be an opportunity to greet, eat, and meet six wonderful Spirits!  -KJ
