Hello everyone,

Just a reminder of some Unity events going on this weekend:

SUNDAY SERVICE AT 11AM - Sky will be speaking on "What Makes You a Better Person?".  This Sunday is also a welcoming of New Members services along with a potluck to follow the Sunday Service.  Please bring food to share.

TUESDAY - MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR CHARLIE WARE at 5pm.  For those of you who knew Charlie Ware, there will be a memorial for Charlie that is a sharing of stories.  Charlie was one of the founding members of Unity of Kanawha Valley.

EASTER SUNDAY (APRIL 8TH) - UKV STILL IS IN NEED OF SOME SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS ON EASTER SUNDAY.  Please let me or Mindy know if you are available to teach our children on this Sunday.

How Can You Help?

Received from :

Bob Sharp

Asst. Fire Chief

Chief of Operations

808 Virginia Street West

Charleston, WV  25302

Please save lives…please equip your home and rental property with smoke detectors.

Charleston Fire Dept. is getting several calls from our community about how they can help in the aftermath of this tragic Charleston fire and wants you to have this information to share and / or be a participant.

Everyone is invited to participate at these events.

Fire Victims Fund- Circle of Hope Event

Thursday March 29, 2012

5AM-6PM

Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans and WCHS Radio at 1111 Virginia Street East will be doing a Circle of Hope Event to accept donations to cover the funeral expenses of the 9 fire victims.  Donations can also be taken to any City National Bank.  After all the expenses are paid for, any remaining money will be allocated to the Charleston Fire Department to purchase Smoke Detectors to give out to our community.

"Never Again" Smoke Detector Community Event

Friday March 30, 2012 from 5AM-11:30PM

Saturday March 31, 2012 from 8AM-6:30PM

WCHS TV 8 Eyewitness News is going to help us in our mission to save lives by putting working smoke detectors into as many homes as possible.

A week-long effort began last night on Eyewitness News at 6pm. Deborah Linz was live at the Charleston Fire Dept to announce the initiative we are calling "Never Again!"

It begins with a call to action: Asking viewers, businesses and anyone who will listen to donate money to the Charleston Fire Department so we can buy as many smoke detectors as we can and follow up on the installation.

Our effort will culminate on Friday and Saturday, when  we will have a Charleston Fire Department Engine in the WCHS TV 8 parking lot on Piedmont Avenue and hand out smoke detectors to anyone who needs them. Proper installation is key to this effort, so every person who takes a detector will be required to provide the CFD contact information so we can follow up to make sure each was properly installed, or we will assist with the installation of the smoke detectors. This effort will begin on Eyewitness News on Friday from 5am though 11:30pm, and 8am to 6:30pm on Saturday.

The donation part of this effort begins now. Anyone who wants to donate can either stop by the Charleston Fire Dept in person, or they can send their donations to:

From: Janet Prince <dancinpurplejp@gmail.com

Please pray with me regarding my living situation.  I think you know I've been living at the Motel 6 for almost two years.  Since the Motel 6 in Kanawha City has been closed because of meth labs, the Motel 6 here in Cross Lanes is overreacting and requiring all long-term residents to vacate by April 1.  We can then come back after one night away, but we can only stay for 14 days, then we have to vacate for another day.  Not exactly an ideal situation.  Please see this situation in the highest light with the manager allowing me to stay indefinitely or me finding an affordable apartment within walking distance to work.  Thank you for your help.

God Bless,

Janet

Fwd: prayer request

Hello everyone,

The following is from Paul Nadas concerning Wes's health.  Please continue your thoughts and prayers.

Special thank you goes out to Paul for letting us know.

Pam

Hi Pam,

I just spoke with Wes.  He is still in the hospital.  They continue to prick and probe, puncture, and prognosticate.  He feels fine, and just basically wants to go home.  Bottom Line is that they don't know what is wrong with him or what caused the latest incident.  He could go home today...he doesn't know.  Susie is there and he has had visits and phone calls.  Let us hope that he gets to go home today.  I know he would feel better out of the hospital.  (If nothing else, better food, right?)

Talk to you soon,
Paul

Dynamic Mindfulness Workshop
April 13 and 14, 2012 Charleston, WV

Daniel Golman, author of Emotional Intelligence describes Mindfulness as an essential aspect of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

In this workshop we will also explore the "body as map of the psyche"; non-violence in therapy, empathic skills such as contact and tracking (reading subtle, unconscious cues); and how creating safety, embracing resistance, and protecting the spirit encourage the cooperation of the unconscious. Mindfulness is not meditation, it is a way of becoming more aware of self and other.

This workshop will introduce practical, evocative relationship skills. It is designed for psychotherapists, counselors, social workers, healing arts practitioners, message therapists and students in these fields. It is also open to individuals seeking to experience greater mindfulness and inner connection.

This workshop is limited to just 20 participants.

When:

Friday, April 13th, 2012 1:00pm-6:00pm
