Fire Victims Fund- Circle of Hope Event
Thursday March 29, 2012

Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans and WCHS Radio at 1111 Virginia Street East will be doing a Circle of Hope Event to accept donations to cover the funeral expenses of the 9 fire victims. Donations can also be taken to any City National Bank. After all the expenses are paid for, any remaining money will be allocated to the Charleston Fire Department to purchase Smoke Detectors to give out to our community.
"Never Again" Smoke Detector Community Event
Friday March 30, 2012 from 5AM-11:30PM
Saturday March 31, 2012 from 8AM-6:30PM
WCHS TV 8 Eyewitness News is going to help us in our mission to save lives by putting working smoke detectors into as many homes as possible.
A week-long effort began last night on Eyewitness News at 6pm. Deborah Linz was live at the Charleston Fire Dept to announce the initiative we are calling "Never Again!"
It begins with a call to action: Asking viewers, businesses and anyone who will listen to donate money to the Charleston Fire Department so we can buy as many smoke detectors as we can and follow up on the installation.
Our effort will culminate on Friday and Saturday, when we will have a Charleston Fire Department Engine in the WCHS TV 8 parking lot on Piedmont Avenue and hand out smoke detectors to anyone who needs them. Proper installation is key to this effort, so every person who takes a detector will be required to provide the CFD contact information so we can follow up to make sure each was properly installed, or we will assist with the installation of the smoke detectors. This effort will begin on Eyewitness News on Friday from 5am though 11:30pm, and 8am to 6:30pm on Saturday.
The donation part of this effort begins now. Anyone who wants to donate can either stop by the Charleston Fire Dept in person, or they can send their donations to:

Daniel Golman, author of Emotional Intelligence describes Mindfulness as an essential aspect of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
In this workshop we will also explore the "body as map of the psyche"; non-violence in therapy, empathic skills such as contact and tracking (reading subtle, unconscious cues); and how creating safety, embracing resistance, and protecting the spirit encourage the cooperation of the unconscious. Mindfulness is not meditation, it is a way of becoming more aware of self and other.
This workshop will introduce practical, evocative relationship skills. It is designed for psychotherapists, counselors, social workers, healing arts practitioners, message therapists and students in these fields. It is also open to individuals seeking to experience greater mindfulness and inner connection.
