This Week's Events at Unity

Hello everyone,

The following events are happening at Unity of Kanawha Valley this week:

FRIDAY - OPEN MIC 4 KIDS!!  The entertainment starts at 6:30pm with sign-ups at 6.  Lola's pizza is served at 7:30.  Everyone is welcome.  Performers are between the ages of 5-15.  Please join us for a wonderful fun-filled evening of performances.

SATURDAY - MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR RICK MILLER AT 11AM.

SUNDAY - CHURCH SERVICE AT 11AM.  Sky will be speaking on "The Quest for the Grail". 
     "The Hero/Heroine's adventure, once accepted and the threshold of 'no return' has been crossed, is characterized by a Quest.  Something lost is sought.  It might be something tangible, like a damsel (or a dane), a goblet or holy grail.  It might be something intangible, like safety, which might require slaying or making friends with a dragon or a Darth Vader.  Or it might be a journey of letting go, as in Lord of the Rings.  Whatever the Quest, whatever the journey, the adventurers come back changed, transformed, in ways they did not expect and could not have predicated.  What is your spiritual Quest?  What do you seek?  What might your Quest require of you and how might it change you?  Join us this Sunday for our exploration of the Quest in Unity.  And for you, Monty Python fans, check out a great Quest scene:  Three Questions on YouTube"  - Sky.




Future Events:

Saturday, Sept. 1st - "Inner Listening" Class with Marianne at 10:30am.

Sunday, Sept. 2nd at 10am - Unity Adult Class for September Begins.  The September class will be "How to Pray Without Talking to God."   Based on the book of the same name by Unity minister Linda Martella-Whitsett.  This is a wonderful book on affirmative prayer and a great aid for those of us who want more practice in this area.  This four session class will start next Sunday, Sept. 2nd at 10am (right before church in the Sunday School room).  We have ordered 5 copies of this book for those who want to get started right away.  Please let Pam know if you want her to hold one for you.  (Discount price of $12) - Sky.
