Fwd: Movie Night...

The following email is from Kathy Johnson about Unity's movie night this Friday.  Food sharing starts at 6pm with the movie starting around 6:30pm.  Please join us for a wonderful evening.  Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

Pam

This month's feature is 'Big Fish', starring Albert Finney, Ewan McGregor, Jessica Lange and Billy Crudup.  It is a story, a fairytale and a journey, all in one.  It has
also been called "magical" and "visually dazzling".  I believe it's one man's story of how he sees the world, largely, colorfully, through stories of his life that become
larger than a life has any right to be..according to his son. I LOVED this movie, and it was a family night movie pick by my grandson, Zachary, who's thirteen.  He loves this movie and really wanted all of us to watch it with him.

If you've seen this film before, I think it might surprise and delight you again.  Its lessons and insights change with age and somehow dance with answers we've silently called to us. So..come on.  Put your shoes on, grab something to share for dinner, and don't forget your smile.  Come join us for movie night at Unity of Kanawha..at 6:00 to share some great food, and about 7:40 the movie begins.  It doesn't cost a thing but your willingness to have a good time and give some great hugs!

Thanks for coming!
Kathy Johnson

Hello everyone,

Please keep Patricia and Kurt in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,

Pam

As many of you know, Patricia broke both of her wrists in September. Physical therapy is helping to return range of motion and we are now working on increasing hand strength.

On the first Sunday in January, while attending the Burning Bowl Ceremony at church, our house as broken into and much of Patricia's jewelry was stolen.

On Monday, January 14, Kurt slipped on some ice and broke his leg.  Fortunately the smaller bone and only a hair line fracture.

If any of you have any metaphysical insights on why we are experiencing these challenges, I would love to hear from you.  In the meantime, your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

What a strange period in our lives!!

Patricia

Burning Bowl in Spirit

Good-morning!

I just got off the phone with our fearless Unity Board President, Peggy Gunter. Peggy is sick today, as are many, and she is particularly disappointed to be missing our Burning Bowl today. Peggy has always been the keeper of the flame at the bowl site, so she will be missed this year!

She shared with me that she plans to have her own private burning bowl at home today, and I thought this was such a neat idea that I would pass it on.

Here is a three step process:

1. After a time of quiet, consider what your dreams and hopes are for the new year.

2.
a. Next, write down those things you need to, or resolve to, let go of, as a way of removing obstacles from intention towards your goals, dreams, and hopes. Spend some quiet time with this, maybe play some nice quiet music while considering this.
b. When you are ready, burn this list as a way of putting your intention into action, and as a way of acknowledging your partnership with the Source of your life. Trust in God's help with the details.

3.
a. Next, write a letter, often this is a letter to God, describing what you hope will fill the vacuum you just created, sometimes this is a letter from the perspective of God or your higher self (the Christ within) to you, the one doing the letting go, a love letter of encouragement.
b. Put this letter in an envelop, seal it, address it to yourself, and put your birthday or other important day in the corner where the stamp would go. Bring it or send it to Unity, and we will mail it back to you on your appointed day.

This is a favorite event in the Unity Church calendar. If you cannot be with us physically, please be with us in Spirit,

And know that wherever you are, God is, and all is well.

Sky

special church service this Sunday

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to put this Sunday's church service in a separate email because it is so special.

In addition to Sky's lesson on "Letting Go and Warmth" and music provided by Ron Sowell, Jack Kennedy, and Ryan Kennedy, this Sunday is Unity of Kanawha Valley's Burning Bowl Ceremony.  It is a very moving service on listing the things in your life that you would like to release and watching the list go up in flames in our bowl to release the items.   Afterwards in our Sunday service, each person may write a Letter to God on what they would like for the upcoming year and what situations or qualities that you want to bring into your life.  Address the provided envelope to yourself and indicate a date you would like to receive this letter in the mail.  UKV will collect and mail the letter to you on that date.  This service is very powerful and inspirational.

Hope to see you there,

Pam
