Rev Ron English: "Martin Luther King, Jr: The Use of Prayer for Courage"
I am so excited about this Sunday's speaker. When I saw that my friend Rev. Ron English was available for this Sunday I jumped at the chance to have him join us. Ron will be speaking on a topic close to our Unity heart: the use prayer for courage.
Ron grew up in Atlanta with Martin Luther King, Jr. He was ordained by King's father, who was his pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ron worked closely with King Jr and many projects, and in the end, and spoke at Kings funeral. He is a special guy and a wonderful speaker. This will be a very special service.
Ron and I will be hosting a discussion immediately after the service.

Many Thanks to all who helped un-decorate the church
This project is now complete
Hello everyone,
Several people have requested the words to the poem that I read at this morning's church service. It is also available at www.stewartstjohnlight.com on a YouTube video with beautiful ocean pictures (great for this time of the year).
Pam
"This Year" by Stewart St. John
This Year will be the best year of my life.
I will awaken to the magic around me.
It will be a return to enjoying the simple things like family and friends
.
It will be the year of less complaining and more appreciating.
It will be a year to be proud of not just my country but my planet.
This year I will laugh more, dance more, love more.
And be healthier than ever because of it.
I'll spend more time with my children and find time to listen to a parent reflect on the good ol' days.
This year I will take that vacation I always wanted because I have the time.
(I always did).
I'll discover true love in the eyes of the person looking back at me.
This year, I'll remember that I am Spirit in human form.
We all are.
I will live more consciously, deliberately, joyfully.
I'll love myself for who I am, just the way I am, and celebrate my uniqueness.
This year IS my best year because I choose it to be.

When I adopt an attitude of gratitude, I create a shift in my outlook. Instead of seeing problems, I see opportunities. Instead of feeling hopeless, I feel hopeful. By focusing on what is working well, I invite more of the same.
When I let others know, "I am grateful for you," I create a connection of love and understanding. Through these simple words, I help others see their own beauty and the contribution they make in the world.
Through prayer, meditation or journal writing, I begin and end each day reflecting on the many ways Spirit blesses me. I approach life in a state of gratitude. I see the magnificence all around me, and I am filled with joy for all the good in this world.
