"Do you stammer when you talk to yourself?" This is the key question asked by Lionel Logue tro Price Alpert in the movie "The King's Speech." We are starting Love Month at UKV, and I thought we would start with how we love ourselves.

Hospitality Givers Sought
Dear UKV Attendee,
- Ushers/Greeters – volunteers would need to arrive at the church about 15-20 minutes prior to the service starting. Make sure front door is unlocked, lights are turned on, heat/air is adjusted, greet people as they arrive, pass offering plates.
- Hospitality – this involves setting up refreshments in Activity Room prior to the starting of the service and cleaning up afterwards. It could be broken down into two parts if the volunteer could not or would not want to arrive early and stay late. For the first part, the volunteer would need to arrive at the church around 10:15 to 10:20. He or she would need to prepare the coffee and make sure everything needed (cups, creamer, stirrers, napkins, plates, etc.) is available as people arrive. For the second part, the volunteer would need to clean up around the refreshment area after the service and make sure all doors (both upstairs front door and Activity Room door downstairs) are locked, or designate someone with a key to lock up when they leave (a Board member or anyone else with a key). They would also need to check and make sure all lights are turned off upstairs and down, the Christ candle on the stage in the Sanctuary is extinguished, and thermostats are adjusted appropriately for the empty building.

When I adopt an attitude of gratitude, I create a shift in my outlook. Instead of seeing problems, I see opportunities. Instead of feeling hopeless, I feel hopeful. By focusing on what is working well, I invite more of the same.
When I let others know, "I am grateful for you," I create a connection of love and understanding. Through these simple words, I help others see their own beauty and the contribution they make in the world.
Through prayer, meditation or journal writing, I begin and end each day reflecting on the many ways Spirit blesses me. I approach life in a state of gratitude. I see the magnificence all around me, and I am filled with joy for all the good in this world.
