"Change and the Point of Power"
How do we make changes in our lives, and what part can our faith play? How does the model of Jesus as our Wayshower help us? What is our Point of Power in all this? Today's lesson will span everything from the brain chemistry of infants, to reflections on the new movie Avatar, to the problem of mold abatement in buildings. Join us! (We are still currently meeting at Blaine Blvd )

Bridge Road Update
Yesterday I had several meeting at Bridge Road re asbestos, mold, and safety. I am surprised and excited about the results!
1 - I met with UKV friend Fred Durham and Jeff Hedgecock, both from the WV DEP - Division of Air Quality (UKV member Jeanne Chandler also works there). We did a walk-through. Bottom line: Jeff thinks it is fine for us to go ahead with the plans to tear out the carpet and padding in the sanctuary, he recommend we wait on the drywall downstairs until we can get that area tested for asbestos.
2 - I also met with UKV friend, Craig Wilger, who is a private building health engineer. We identified the areas of mold, and did a survey of the air flow patterns through the building. It appears that we can easily isolate the mold affected areas, and safely start the process of cleaning the mildew and solving the musty smell without much problem. Craig has a lot of experience in this area, he did not think the problem was a big one (he has seen and dealt with much worse). He thought we could have it resolved in about a week!
The Demolition Crew this Saturday at 1:00
UKV friend, Mark Sabor, will be parking two of his dump trucks at UKV every Saturday in January and February for our use! Here is the plan for this Saturday, starting at 1:00:
The Construction Crew, headed by our fearless leader Matt Schwartz, could work on isolating the mold/mildew rooms. This would involve erecting a heavy plastic barrier in the hallway near the kitchen. Thankfully, the kitchen is clean and has not been effected by the mildew problem!
Needless to say, I am really excited about this news. We have set a target date of being in the Bridge Road Church by March 1 (53 days away!) I think we will make it!
And I am amazed at how the Universe has brought together so many talented and generous people, with exactly the expertise that we needed, just at the right time. I am amazed!!! Demonstrations Abound!!!
Remember: You are a Child of God! You are a Blessing!

1 - Remove the carpet and padding from the sanctuary
2 - Clean the dormant mildew of the walls and pews
3 - Clean the dormant mildew off the panelling in the big downstairs room
We will have safety air masks available (they work great). Please bring carpet cutters, rubber or plastic gloves, buckets, sponges, towels, and other cleaning supplies. Craig recommend that we use Borax for the mildew. I would also recommend knee pads (the mildew is down low). If we had 15 folks on this project, we could get it done in one afternoon (weather permitting)! Please let me know if you are in!2 - Clean the dormant mildew of the walls and pews
